Now you may wonder, how can lean meat make for a great smoke? Here is where the beautiful marbling of a brisket flat comes into play. Marbling refers to the fat content in the brisket. It is thick and white when raw but melts into delicious fat with rich flavor when cooked.
Our briskets have the perfect marbling and are skillfully trimmed, leaving a perfect ¼ inch fat cap on one side keeping the brisket moist, juicy, and flavorful when cooked. This guarantees a melt in your mouth kind of brisket! All you have to do is order your brisket online and get cooking!
Best ways to cook a brisket:
Slow cooking, braising, smoking etc. are some of the best ways to cook beef brisket flats as they tenderize the meat making it moist and flavorful.
Texas style smoked brisket, oven baked brisket, and slow cooker brisket with onions are some of the beef brisket flat recipes you should try! To get a true taste of the finest quality briskets for sale, order briskets online from Dickey’s At Home today!
Smoking brisket flat
The brisket flat is easy to smoke and perfect for cookouts with friends and family.
So how long does it take to smoke a brisket flat? This depends on the cook temperature and brisket size, but we recommend smoking a 12lb beef brisket for about 9 hours at 225°F or until internal temperature reaches about 203°F. Give yourself enough time to account for prep time, smoke time and also rest time. A rest time of about 30min to 1hr before slicing is ideal.
Smoking a brisket flat on a pellet grill:
This is one of the easiest methods to cook your brisket! It has the advantage of adding a depth of flavor to make your smoked brisket rich and flavorful. Just add in flavored wood pellets while smoking your meat, and since some briskets have a relatively shorter cook time, mesquite and hickory wood pellets would be your top choice for a deeper smoke flavor.
Preheat your pellet grill to 250°F for about 15 minutes. Place the brisket on the grill and cook until it reaches an internal temperature of 198°-203°F. As always, remember to give adequate rest time before slicing!
Briskets are an irresistible crowd pleaser and when you buy your briskets, you want to make sure you calculate enough for your guests. Keep in mind that the brisket shrinks as you cook it. We recommend about ½ pound of uncooked brisket per person.

Brisket Flat vs Point
The other muscle present in the brisket is called the brisket point.
A brisket point (also called the second cut) is usually thicker, smaller, and fattier with heavy marbling. Since it contains less meat and more fat, it’s often used for shredding meat for a sandwich, tacos or to make hamburgers.
