Bacon Jam

Good condiments can enhance almost any food, and nothing adds to the flavor of meat or vegetables such as our Grilled Acorn Squash or like our Bacon Jam. Dickey’s Chili Pork Butt Seasoning intensifies the flavors of all the ingredients, including everyone’s reason for getting out of bed in the morning: bacon!

  • 1/2 lb
  • Bacon
  • 1 each
  • Onion, yellow
  • 2 tsp
  • Garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup
  • Honey
  • 1/4 cup
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup
  • Red wine

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, reserving about a tablespoon of bacon fat in the pan.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add onion and garlic to the pan and cook, stirring often, until the onions are caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. Add remaining ingredients, bring to a simmer and reduce until the liquid thickens and the bubbles grow in size while boiling.
  4. Cool to room temperature, stir to incorporate any fat that may separate.
  5. Use immediately and refrigerate until needed.
