We know what you’re thinking: Does a BLT really need a recipe? It does if you want the best BLT, and that requires using Dickey’s recipe for Chili Candied Bacon. Bacon, of course, is the most important ingredient in a BLT, which is why it gets top billing. With the right B, the L and T are nothing more than garnish.

Ingredients

  • 8 Slices
  • Texas Toast
  • 1/2 Head
  • Lettuce, Iceberg core removed
  • Leave Seperated
  • 2 Each
  • Tomato, Ripe
  • Slice into 1/4" slices
  • 6 Tbsp
  • Mayonnaise
  • as needed
  • Salt and pepper

Procedure

  1. Toast bread in the toaster until golden brown, spread a heaping Tablespoon over each of 4 slices, these will be the top slices of the sandwich.
  2. On the remaining slices, build the layers from the bottom up. Place 4 chili candied bacon strips on the toast, then lettuce and tomato. Season the tomatoes with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the top pieces of toast with mayonnaise over the tomatoes, cut in half and serve.
