Texas Grog

You’ve never had grog until you’ve had Texas grog. Forget the rum—this all-American beverage uses good ol’ Texas whiskey. Add brown sugar, orange peel and a slightly burnt cinnamon stick, and you’ve got a warm, smoky, Texas drink that’ll make you jump up and shout, “Yeeeee-haw!”

Ingredients

  • 2 oz
  • Texas Whiskey
  • 1/2 each
  • Fresh lemon, juiced
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • Brown sugar
  • 4 oz
  • Hot water, tea pot
  • 1 each
  • Orange peel
  • 1 each
  • Cinnamon stick

Procedure

  1. Combine whiskey, lemon juice, brown sugar, and hot tea water in a tall coffee glass with a spoon.
  2. Peel a small strip of orange skin from a fresh orange. Add the orange peel to the glass.
  3. Light a cinnamon stick end on fire, allow to burn for 4-5 seconds. Add the cinnamon stick to the glass and drop into the drink to add a smoky cinnamon flavor.
